Meet Our Seattle Trauma Therapy Team

We are a team of somatic and trauma-informed therapists who are passionate about helping clients reconnect with their bodies and come home to themselves.

We believe that a strong therapeutic container matters.

The Sona Collective Difference

Together, we will listen closely to your body’s cues for direction. In both our clinical practice and personal lives, we align with the Eastern philosophy that our bodies are our greatest source of wisdom. We bring a diverse and unique approach to trauma-focused therapy, combining academic and evidence-based principles with creativity, neuroscience, play, and movement.

Trained, in large part, by life experience, we are here to tell you that healing is possible. We specialize in EMDR and somatic psychotherapy, psilocybin therapy, ketamine therapy, and contemplative wisdom traditions for a holistic and integrated approach. We love to work directly with the emotional and somatic channels, inviting clients into a deeper presence of their embodied experience.

Our Philosophy

Who We Are

Beliefs

We believe in the Buddhist concept of “Brilliant Sanity,” which says that within every human, regardless of what they have been through in life, there exists goodness and well-being that is everyone’s birthright. We believe that therapy is meant to uncover this brilliance; it’s a homecoming to what’s already whole.

How We Work

Approach

With decades of experience combined, our team offers a holistic and non-traditional approach to trauma therapy. While we believe there’s a time and place for talking, we lean heavily on a “bottom-up” therapeutic approach that uses body-centered and mindfulness-based trauma therapy techniques meant to work directly with the nervous system.

What We Do

Methods

Our skilled therapists are trained in EMDR, mindfulness, psychedelic, and somatic therapies. We lean heavily on evidence-based modalities in our sessions, such as EMDR, somatic therapy, ketamine therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques, which are all backed by the latest research on the brain and nervous system.

What’s Behind the Name Sona Collective?

“Sona” means “gold” in South Asian and Armenian languages, ancient traditions that understood gold not just as material wealth, but as a symbol of inner radiance and enduring value. At Sona Collective, we believe in the process of uncovering your own gold on the path toward integration.

Serving Clients in Seattle (In-Person), Oregon & Colorado (Virtually)

Kirsten Hartz, MA, LMHC, LPC

Founder & Therapist in Seattle, Washington

“I see myself as a companion and guide for highly sensitive, empathic individuals seeking a path to recovery from trauma.

If you’re the kind of person who feels big emotions (like tearing up at a beautiful sunset), tends to everyone else’s needs but your own, and struggles with self-care and boundaries, I’m here for you. I love to help my highly sensitive clients build healthier relationships with clear boundaries, swap out negative self-talk, find new ways of relating to their anxiety and depression, and come home to their bodies.

As a survivor of profound loss, I understand what it’s like to take a healing journey. I humbly see myself as a fellow traveler on the path, always growing, learning, and evolving. Both in my own life and those of my clients, I have witnessed and believe in the healing power of embodiment to recover from deep pain. In my work, there is always space for vulnerable moments, profound realizations, uninhibited emotions, and very often, deep belly laughs.”

Kirsten offers individual somatic and EMDR therapy and ketamine therapy.

Our Services & Modalities

Trauma can show up as nearly any form of stress held in the nervous system, from autoimmune conditions and chronic pain to anxiety, depression, and substance abuse.

  • So often, therapy favors the mind and neglects the body and nervous system. As therapists specializing in somatic therapy, we aim to get you back in your body. We want you to feel relief, not just in our sessions, but in the following days and weeks.

The truth is that trauma isn’t just “in your head”; it leaves a very real biological imprint on your body, memory, and brain chemistry. Through somatic (ancient Greek for “body”) psychotherapy and mindfulness-based practices, we will help you find freedom from limiting beliefs, depression, anxiety, and addictive patterns.

  • EMDR is an evidence-based and effective modality for treating trauma and trauma-related symptoms such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, eating disorders, and PTSD. Our team of trauma therapists takes a somatic approach to EMDR, blending mindfulness practices with somatic therapy and parts work, or IFS. A regulated nervous system is the foundation for mental well-being.

  • Ketamine therapy is an excellent option if you feel like you’ve tried everything but still feel stuck. It is a safe and legal therapeutic option for treating symptoms ranging from depression and anxiety to OCD and eating disorders.

Ketamine therapy is a science-backed intervention that heals on a neurobiological level, ultimately creating more lasting and transformative change.
